Events at Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse

Spring Point Lighthouse has the unique distinction of being the only caisson-style lighthouse accessible by land and open for public tours. The Spring Point Ledge Light Trust frequently holds Open Houses allowing the public to actually enter and explore the lighthouse. A small fee of $5.00 is charged to support the Trust's preservation efforts.

Open House Events

Beginning June 14th, 2008, the lighthouse will be open to visitors from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM every Saturday.

An information hotline which the public can call to learn the status of an Open House and other information of importance is now available. That telephone number is (207) 699-2676.

For Your Safety

Please note that for safety reasons children less than 55-inches in height are not permitted inside the lighthouse. Children may be measured at the ticket desk and/or the lighthouse entrance to ensure compliance.

Climbing of narrow stairs and through hatches is also required (see photo at right). Tennis shoes or hiking shoes are recommended. Please avoid sandals.

There are occasions when an event may be cancelled: snow or ice on the breakwater, fog that activates the fog signal, or high winds or surf. Visitors who have doubts about an event should call the Spring Point Ledge Light hotline at (207) 699-2676. Every attempt will be made to update the hotline by 8:00 AM the morning of the Open House event.

Directions

Open house visitors, above, receive a pre-tour briefing prior to entering the lighthouse.
